What is the Boys' Brigade?

The Boys' Brigade provides opportunities to catch the energy and enthusiasm of youth and to channel it purposefully. Founded in Glasgow by Sir William Alexander Smith, The Boys’ Brigade has been around for over 125 years. Each week the organisation provides a balanced programme of activities for thousands of children and young people throughout the UK & Republic of Ireland.

The object of The Boys’ Brigade has remained unchanged since it was founded: "The advancement of Christ's kingdom among Boys and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness."

The Boys’ Brigade motto – "Sure & Steadfast" – is taken from the Bible (Hebrews 6:19) and refers to the certainty of the Christian hope.
